Position Summary
The Strategic Sourcing Lead is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and developing suppliers that support Redwire’s current and future technology needs. This role conducts early-stage sourcing activities across the space and defense technology markets, analyzes industry and material trends, and builds a forward-looking sourcing pipeline aligned with program, Business Development, Capture, and Proposal priorities.
 
Responsibilities include supplier qualification, commercial analysis, supporting negotiations of terms and conditions such as NDAs, partnering and long-term agreements, and contributing to the development of strategic supplier relationships. The position will also support the integration of sourcing workflows, supplier data, and qualification processes into Redwire’s evolving Digital Engineering Environment, strengthening visibility, traceability, and long-term supply chain capability.

Key Responsibilities
Market Research & Supplier Identification
  • Research emerging suppliers, technologies, and capabilities within the space, aerospace, and defense technology sectors.
  • Monitor material trends, supply-market conditions, industry capacity, and other external factors that influence sourcing decisions.
  • Build and maintain an early-stage sourcing pipeline supporting advanced technologies, long-lead materials, and strategic capability needs.
  • Identify and establish early relationships with potential teaming partners and suppliers specifically to strengthen our competitive posture for upcoming government solicitations and proposals.
Supplier Qualification & Capability Assessment
  • Support supplier vetting activities, including capability assessments, technical and quality evaluations, and risk screening.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Supply Chain teams to assess supplier readiness and alignment with technical requirements.
  • Maintain supplier qualification records, performance indicators, and sourcing data.
  • Contribute to standardized templates, qualification documentation, and process improvements.
Strategic Sourcing & Commercial Support
  • Support sourcing strategy development and engagement with key suppliers.
  • Collaborate with Proposal Managers and Capture Managers to integrate sourcing data, quotes, and vendor capabilities into compelling proposal narratives and cost volumes.
  • Conduct cost/price analysis and benchmarking to ensure competitive sourcing outcomes.
  • Help identify opportunities for strategic partnerships, capability alignment, cost optimization, and supply base resilience.
  • Provide support to draft, issue, and manage Requests for Information (RFIs), Requests for Proposal (RFPs), and Requests for Quotation (RFQs) to secure subcontractor capabilities and pricing inputs for active proposal efforts.
  • Support negotiating commercial terms and conditions, Non-Disclosure Agreements, Teaming Agreements, pricing structures, and business agreements.
Digital Engineering & Process Integration
  • Contribute to incorporating sourcing workflows, supplier qualification data, and templates into Redwire’s Digital Engineering Environment.
  • Participate in process-development efforts to enhance standardization, automation, and sourcing efficiency.
  • Provide functional input to improve visibility and traceability across sourcing activities.
  • Supplier & Subcontractor Engagement (Travel)
  • Travel to supplier and subcontractor facilities to conduct assessments, support qualification efforts, participate in technical and commercial discussions, and strengthen supplier relationships.
Ideal Experience 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Analytics, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 8 years of strategic sourcing, supply chain analysis, procurement, or supplier management experience.
  • Experience executing RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs to secure pricing and technical data.
  • Experience collaborating with Business Development, Capture, or Proposal teams to support competitive bids is highly desired.
  • Experience conducting supplier research, qualifications, and capability assessments.
  • Working knowledge of commercial negotiation principles and contract terms including NDAs and Teaming; familiarity with regulated environments is beneficial.
  • Experience working with Business Development, Engineering, and Program Management to align sourcing activities.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and sourcing or analytics tools.
  • Ability to travel to supplier and subcontractor sites as required.
  • U.S. citizenship required; eligibility for a security clearance may be required.

Pay Range
$113,000 - $165,000
