Join the Redwire Space team in developing and fielding end-to-end innovative mission critical space system solutions for next generation space architecture. At Redwire, you will work closely with customers from concept development through mission operations to ensure mission success.

Join our team of innovators and work alongside talented and curious people who are passionate about designing and delivering solutions that accelerate humanity’s expansion into space.

Redwire Poland is building capabilities in thermal and structural analysis, testing, and verification for advanced space systems. Our work spans deployable solar arrays for spacecraft, satellite structures including sandwich and lattice-core structures, and other space equipment for European and international programmes. With many exciting projects on the horizon, our team is eager for your passion, talent, and experience.

Job description

As a Thermal Engineer for Redwire Poland, you will join our international engineering organisation supporting advanced space systems programmes.

This role focuses on spacecraft thermal modelling, thermal analysis, and thermal verification activities. You will support projects ranging from advanced structures, spacecraft equipment and subsystems to complete spacecraft and deployable solar arrays.

You will work closely with systems, structural, and mechanical engineers to ensure thermal requirements are understood, traceable, and met throughout the project lifecycle. The role includes Thermal Mathematical Model development, thermal analysis, thermal test support, model correlation activities, and preparation of technical documentation for ESA and ECSS-based projects.

This position is based in Warsaw under a hybrid work model and offers the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across Europe and the United States. Occasional international travel may be required to support project activities and environmental test campaigns.

You will gain exposure to the full development process of spaceflight hardware while helping Redwire expand its engineering capabilities in Poland.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Thermal Mathematical Models (TMMs) and Geometrical Mathematical Models (GMMs) for spacecraft, subsystems and equipment.
  • Perform spacecraft-, subsystem- and equipment-, and component-level thermal analyses using ESATAN-TMS, ANSYS Thermal, and associated tools.
  • Develop and assess representative thermal modelling approaches for advanced spacecraft structures, including sandwich panels and lattice-core structures.
  • Perform thermal analyses for hot and cold bounding cases, nominal and contingency mission modes, and relevant operational scenarios.
  • Support thermal design trade-offs, thermal budgets, requirements and interface assessments for spacecraft systems, equipment and structures.
  • Prepare thermal predictions for TVAC and Thermal Balance test campaigns.
  • Support thermal test execution and correlate analytical models with test results.
  • Generate temperature maps and provide thermal inputs for thermo-elastic and structural analyses.
  • Prepare thermal analysis reports, model documentation, verification evidence, and technical inputs to project reviews.
  • Work closely with structural, mechanical and systems engineers, as well as AIT teams, throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

Must-have

  • Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or another relevant engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in thermal analysis of spacecraft, aerospace systems, or other high-reliability products.
  • Hands-on experience with ESATAN-TMS, or strong experience with comparable thermal-analysis tools (such as ANSYS Thermal) and willingness to develop ESATAN-TMS capability.
  • Experience developing and maintaining Thermal Mathematical Models.
  • Thorough understanding of conductive, radiative, and convective heat transfer, together with the spacecraft thermal environment, including solar flux, planetary albedo and infrared radiation, eclipse conditions, spacecraft attitude, and orbital parameters.
  • Good understanding of active and passive spacecraft thermal-control principles.
  • Familiarity with thermal-vacuum and thermal-balance testing, including test preparation, predictions, instrumentation, execution support, and result assessment.
  • Strong communication skills in English, including technical writing and presentation of engineering results.
  • Strong analytical thinking and willingness to learn and develop within the space sector.

Good-to-have

  • Experience with thermal-model verification and test correlation.
  • Experience providing thermal inputs to thermo-elastic analyses and interpreting coupled thermal-structural results.
  • Experience with advanced structures, sandwich panels, lattice-core structures, or deployable solar arrays.
  • Knowledge of heat pipes and other advanced thermal control methods.
  • Familiarity with ECSS thermal-analysis, verification, and documentation practices.
  • Experience with GMM development and maintenance.
  • Experience with spacecraft-level thermal analyses.
  • Knowledge of Python, MATLAB, VBA, or similar scripting tools.
  • Good communication skills in Polish.
  • Interest in space technology and willingness to develop expertise in space-specific analysis and verification method.
