Redwire Space Enterprises, INC. has an opportunity for a Space Hardware Test Execution Engineer to join our Systems & Test Engineering team in Goleta, CA. In this role, you will support the testing and verification of large deployable solar arrays for spacecraft.
This role includes authoring test planning and execution documentation, test equipment readiness planning, troubleshooting and test support, as well as executing and/or leading technicians to execute tests. This role will work hands-on with flight hardware, test fixtures, motor‑drive systems, power supplies, automation scripts, and photovoltaic test equipment. This position plays a critical role in validating the performance, reliability, and deployment behavior of our space power systems.
Responsibilities
• Set up, execute, and document space hardware test campaigns including Deployment Tests, Dark IV Testing, and Electroluminescence (EL) imaging
• Operate and troubleshoot test equipment including power supplies, motor controllers, DAQ systems, instrumentation, and control software
• Configure test scripts, firmware, and control interfaces to run automated or semi‑automated test sequences
• Work directly with Systems Engineers and Manufacturing Engineers to prepare test configurations, define instrumentation needs, and validate proper test setup
• Interpret requirements, test plans, and engineering drawings to prepare and execute test procedures accurately
• Collect, organize, and validate test data; work with engineers to ensure data quality and traceability
• Exercise Stop‑Work authority to protect personnel, hardware, and equipment
• Support root-cause investigations, hardware anomalies, and system diagnostics during testing
• Maintain test fixtures, harnesses, and mechanical/electrical interfaces used in test execution
• Ensure proper handling of flight hardware in accordance with contamination control and quality standards
• Coordinate equipment readiness with Quality Engineering (calibration tracking and audit compliance)
• Support offsite testing activities at partner/customer facilities as needed
• Effectively communicate test status, issues, and results to engineering, manufacturing, and program teams
Ideal Experience
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Systems, or related STEM discipline
• 4+ years of experience in hardware test execution, integration, or hands-on engineering roles
• Experience working with test equipment such as programmable power supplies, DAQ systems, motor controllers, and/or PLCs
• Experience with test procedure execution, hardware checkout, and data acquisition
• Comfortable working around electrical power systems, motion systems, and sensitive flight hardware
• Basic ability to read engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and system schematics
• Familiarity with test automation or scripting (Python, LabVIEW, or similar)
• US citizenship required, with ability to obtain a security clearance
Desired Skills
• Experience testing spacecraft hardware, solar arrays, or deployable mechanisms
• Experience with Dark IV / Electroluminescence test techniques or photovoltaic characterization
• Familiarity with embedded systems, motor control firmware, or automated test equipment
• Experience working in AS9100 or aerospace hardware environments
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude for fixturing, alignment, and hardware configuration
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision during test execution
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail during test execution and data handling
Pay Range
$105,000 - $150,000 per year

Redwire determines pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data, for our locations throughout the US. We will evaluate external equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index, in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company.
For new hires, we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth. Salaries will be based on the applicant’s level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. Additionally, we consider the external market rate, the amount we have budgeted internally, and internal equity within the company for the same position. An employee/candidate with a stronger skill set will receive higher pay.
