Redwire is an innovative space and defense technology company driving advanced capabilities across the aerospace sector. We are looking for a leader who can contribute to concept of operations development, mission solution design, and strategic analysis for spacecraft programs supporting National Security Space. This includes work spanning space domain awareness, space resiliency, mission autonomy, structures, sensors, and next‑generation space systems.

We are seeking a talented Front End Software Engineer to join our team in Chantilly, VA. This position will be 100% on-site.

Ideal Experience
  • 2+ years of professional software development experience with a primary focus on front‑end engineering.
  • Experience using HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript/TypeScript, including deep understanding of browser internals, rendering pipelines, performance constraints, and modern frontend tooling.
  • Experience with React, including advanced patterns such as compound components, render props, custom hooks, context architectures, and scalable state‑management approaches (Redux, Zustand, Recoil, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience architecting and maintaining component libraries, design systems, and scalable CSS architectures (CSS‑in‑JS, modular CSS, utility‑first, or hybrid patterns).
  • Experience visualizing complex physics based simulations, workflows, and real-time visualization of engineering systems
  • Proficiency integrating with backend systems and APIs, with working fluency in gRPC, REST, and WebSocket communication patterns, including debugging integration issues and influencing API design.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across the stack—you can read backend code, understand system‑level constraints, and partner with backend engineers to shape interfaces and performance requirements.
  • Demonstrated excellence in Git‑based workflows, including clean commit practices, thoughtful PR submissions, and a strong collaborative review culture.
  • U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret or TS/SCI clearance.
Desired Skills
  • Strong foundational background in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related quantitative fields.
  • Experience building and shipping complex, data‑dense, and performance‑critical interfaces, such as dashboards, real‑time systems, modeling/simulation front ends, or large‑scale visualization tools.
  • Deep experience with Three.js, React Three Fiber, WebGL, or other web‑based 3D rendering libraries—including performance profiling, shader optimization, and interaction design for 3D environments.
  • Experience collaborating deeply with UI/UX designers using tools like Figma, and the ability to translate design intent into technically feasible, scalable front‑end architectures.
  • Experience in or exposure to aerospace, defense, or space industry workflows, aligning with UI/UX principles in mission systems and digital engineering environments
  • Strong communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills, enabling effective interface with engineering, product, design, and mission‑domain stakeholders.
  • Experience building front ends that integrate with simulation environments, digital‑twin systems, data pipelines, or engineering workflows.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards, internationalization, and secure‑by‑design UI practices.
