Summary
 
Redwire Space Missions, LLC is seeking a Staff Project Engineer with deep experience in space systems, deployable mechanisms, and structural components, and expert‑level mastery of Microsoft Project to support our growing Albuquerque portfolio.
 
The Staff Project Engineer provides technical leadership, project execution oversight, and cross‑functional coordination to ensure successful delivery of space systems projects, with emphasis on deployables and structural components. This role requires master‑level proficiency in Microsoft Project, including development of complex integrated schedules, resource loading, critical path analysis, and schedule risk identification.
 
You will define project objectives, guide engineering development, manage resource plan and schedule performance. The Senior Project Engineer ensures alignment with Redwire’s technical, operational, and programmatic standards across the full lifecycle from concept through production.
 
Responsibilities
 
Planning, Scheduling & Resource plan Control
  • Develop and maintain complex, resource‑loaded schedules in Microsoft Project; perform critical path analysis and identify schedule risks.
  • Build and manage work breakdown structures (WBS), resource plan plans, and integrated schedules using advanced MS Project capabilities.
  • Develop project objectives by reviewing proposals, plans, and customer requirements; collaborate with management to establish scope.
  • Determine project responsibilities by identifying phases and elements; assign personnel; review contractor bids.
  • Establish project specifications by studying product design, performance standards, and customer needs; prepare resource plan estimates.
  • Monitor project progress, coordinate activities, resolve issues, and maintain schedule integrity.
  • Assist Project Managers with development of project plans by reviewing design, specifications, and schedule changes; recommend corrective actions.
  • Approve expenditures and administer subcontracts.
  • Prepare project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Ensure project scope, schedule, and resource plan remain well defined and maintained.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Communicate technical status, risks, and decisions clearly and professionally.
  • Support business development through proposal writing, technical scope definition, and review of resource plan/schedule inputs.
Ideal Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field with 8 or more years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 6 or more years of experience.
  • Advanced experience/proficiency in Microsoft Project or equivalent.
  • Experience developing space systems and/or space systems components from concept through verification and production.
  • Experience defining technical work plans, estimating resources, and leading engineering activities.
  • Background working directly with customers to manage expectations, technical scope, and deliverables.
  • Previous work Experience supporting high‑reliability, mission‑critical aerospace or space programs.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Some travel required
 
Desired Skills
  • Expert‑level proficiency in Microsoft Project, including resource loading, dependency management, schedule health assessments, and critical path analysis.
  • Experience translating system architectures into requirements and verification plans.
  • Understanding of risk management and risk‑based decision‑making.
  • Experience managing technical baselines and product configurations.
  • Experience preparing and presenting at technical reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, etc.).
  • Advanced degree (M.S., Ph.D.) in engineering or engineering management.
  • Ability to operate with minimal oversight.
