Redwire is an innovative space and defense technology company driving advanced capabilities across the aerospace sector. We are looking for a leader who can contribute to concept of operations development, mission solution design, and strategic analysis for spacecraft programs supporting National Security Space. This includes work spanning space domain awareness, space resiliency, mission autonomy, structures, sensors, and next‑generation space systems.

The Systems Engineer is responsible for developing, integrating, and governing the modeling, simulation, and digital engineering frameworks that support the company’s mission system and space system architectures. This role blends physics based modeling, MBSE discipline, and multidomain simulation expertise to ensure that digital twins, digital threads, system interfaces, and analytical models are coherent, validated, and aligned with mission and program objectives. You will build and evolve system level models, support virtual integration and V&V activities, contribute to concept development, and collaborate closely with systems engineers, software teams, mission analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver accurate, traceable, and high fidelity engineering representations across aerospace and defense programs.

Major Responsibilities
  • Develop and enhance modeling & simulation capabilities including physics based and AI augmented models.
  • Apply and promote MBSE practices across the full system lifecycle.
  • Build simulation and analysis models supporting concept development, demonstrations, proposals, and system level evaluations.
  • Create and maintain digital twins & digital threads for space systems and mission architectures.
  • Design and simulate system interfaces across multi‑domain engineering environments.
  • Perform virtual integration and V&V for simulation components and end to end system behavior.
  • Assess system performance using technical performance measures and simulation based criteria.
  • Contribute to concept development through modeling, documentation, and architectural analysis.
  • Communicate technical results via reviews, proposals, and stakeholder briefings.
  • Collaborate across engineering and business teams to support program execution and business capture.

Ideal Experience
  • STEM education — B.S. in Aerospace, Systems, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Systems Engineering Experience — 1–5 years in system development, I&T, MBSE, or operations or related STEM job.
  • Modeling & simulation development — Experience developing new or enhanced modeling and simulation capabilities.
  • Digital engineering & MBSE — Ability to apply MBSE, SysML, and digital engineering tools across the lifecycle.
  • Simulation & analysis modeling — Experience building models for concept development, demonstrations, and system level evaluation.
  • Digital twins & digital threads — Ability to create and evolve digital twins for mission and space systems.
  • Cross disciplinary collaboration — Work with subsystem engineers to develop detailed designs and analyses.
  • Interface design & simulation — Ability to model and simulate system and subsystem interfaces.
  • Virtual integration & V&V — Experience validating simulation components and integrated system behavior.
  • Performance assessment — Ability to evaluate system performance using defined metrics.
  • Concept development — Experience contributing to conceptual system design and documentation.
  • Technical communication — Ability to present simulation results and design artifacts.
  • Cross functional teamwork — Ability to collaborate with engineering, IT, management, and business development.

Desired Skills
  • MBSE & SysML proficiency — Hands‑on experience with MBSE and SysML.
  • MBSE tooling — Cameo Systems Modeler, Teamwork Cloud, or similar tools.
  • Physics based modeling — MATLAB/Simulink or Python scientific libraries.
  • Systems engineering depth — Understanding of space vehicle design, architecture, and mission development.
  • Communication & detail orientation — Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Independent engineering execution — Ability to independently apply systems engineering principles.
  • Travel readiness — Ability to travel 10–15%.
  • Security eligibility — U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain DoD clearance.
