We have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Manager, Integration and Test at our facility in Albuquerque, NM, to lead a multidisciplinary engineering team! This role will be instrumental in leading the Redwire’s Integration and Test team including engineering talent, research, design, development, testing, and controls for all space offerings and programs. In this role, you will be a key leader within the engineering team, reporting to the Director of Engineering of Space Systems Albuquerque with other engineering functional managers serving as peers within the organization.
 
The Engineering Manager is responsible for technical performance, quality, deadlines, in accordance with the commitments of Redwire and its affiliates. His/her deliverable is the fully tested and/or qualified satellite within customer, NASA, SMC, etc. guidelines.  Within the hardware development life cycle, the integration and test engineering team generates test plans and procedures for development, risk, mitigation, and requirement verification, coordinate and execution risk mitigation and qualification test activities, establish hardware acceptance test flows and procedures, and generate development and verification test reports.  
 
Responsibilities
  • Create and manage assembly procedures based on assembly drawings of spacecraft systems and their subsystems (including component mounting, wiring, piping and outfitting)
  • Participate in hardware development project execution as necessary; typically reviewing project plans/procedures and engineering data, identifying risks and opportunities, and supporting/managing issue resolution.
  • Conduct system and subsystem tests as a team and manage results and progress. Select equipment, fixtures, and measurement tools required for spacecraft integration and various tests in-line with industry best practices
  • Strategically position the functional engineering team for growth through recruitment of world class engineering talent.
  • Provide engineering leadership for proposals and active space hardware development projects.
  • Conduct supervision, including managing priorities, hiring, performance management, mentorship, career growth and succession management of engineering staff located across multiple sites serving multiple product areas.
  • Coordinate with engineering leadership across the Redwire enterprise to expand capabilities for staffing.
  • Establish and report team metrics to leadership to monitor team performance, skills bench depth, and on-time-delivery of engineering data.
  • Support the implementation of Engineering department process and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Establish and manage implementation of engineering tools to improve efficiency and performance of the team.
  • Provides inputs to department budgeting, organizational strategic planning, and project planning.
  • Participate in proposal activity by developing and/or reviewing execution plans, developing estimate and a basis of estimates for task execution, and reviewing project costs.
  • Evaluate new technologies for application in improving the design of aerospace systems.
  • Support internal research and development planning and project execution.
  • Provide guidance for intellectual property management among the engineering team.
 
Ideal Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, aerospace or related field
  • Eight or more years’ of space hardware development and test experience
  • Experience with spacecraft components and space vehicle best practices, such as:
    • Thermal and TVAC
    • Structural qualification testing, including quasistatic, modal, shock, and vibration
    • EMI/EMC
    • Performance testing including deployment, ejection
  • Experienced with spacecraft subsystem development and verification testing methods.
  • Experience specifying and using test instrumentation and data acquisition systems
  • Experience leading and/or supervising an engineering team.
  • Experience in requirement derivation, verification and management strategies
  • Experience with technology roadmaps and technology maturation planning
  • Must be able to develop and present functional team information to internal management
  • Experience with design review process, customer interactions, and business development.
  • Experience and training in safe handling protocols for flight hardware, including cleanroom and ESD standards.
  • Experience maintaining certification of AS9100D accreditation.
  • Ability to travel - an average of 10% travel may be required.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Physically located in Albuquerque, NM
 
Desired Skills
  • Minimum 10 years space-related experience
  • Post graduate degree in Engineering, Aerospace, or related fields
  • Recognized space industry specialist with insight into multiple engineering fields and disciplines.
  • Comprehensive understanding of space design best practices and lessons learned.
  • Strong attention to detail with advanced verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive and deliver in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365, including SharePoint and Team. Microsoft Project experience a plus.

Redwire determines pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data, for our locations throughout the US. We will evaluate external equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index, in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company.

For new hires, we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth.  Salaries will be based on the applicant’s level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. Additionally, we consider the external market rate, the amount we have budgeted internally, and internal equity within the company for the same position. An employee/candidate with a stronger skill set will receive higher pay.
