At Redwire, we’re breaking boundaries on an astronomical scale through innovation, meaningful impact, and continuous growth. Join us to be part of a mission-driven team where diversity, flexibility, and collaboration fuel every success.

Summary:
Redwire Space Missions LLC in Littleton, CO has an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineer. In this role, you will own the design, development, integration, and lifecycle support of spacecraft Electrical Power Subsystem (EPS) hardware. This includes power generation, energy storage, distribution, and conversion. The engineer will define EPS architectures, requirements, and interfaces; perform analysis; and lead verification and validation efforts. This role requires hands-on experience with spacecraft power systems and close collaboration with systems engineering, avionics, software, and I&T teams.

Responsibilities
  • Own spacecraft Electrical Power Subsystem (EPS) hardware design and performance from concept through delivery.
  • Define EPS architectures, specifications, and interfaces with spacecraft bus and payload subsystems, including power generation, energy storage, power distribution and control.
  • Develop power budgets, load analyses, state of charge analyses, and fault tolerance studies for missions.
  • Support spacecraft integration and test with EPS checkouts, simulations, and anomaly resolution.
  • Perform analysis of efficiency, stability, reliability, derating, and worst-case performance.
  • Lead or support development and review of interface control documents (ICDs) for EPS hardware.
  • Specify and procure EPS hardware and provide supplier technical oversight.
  • Support environmental testing and verification in thermal vacuum, vibration, and EMI/EMC environments.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to electrical engineering best practices.
Ideal Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field (Master’s preferred) with 5+ years of experience.
  • Experience in power subsystem specification, development, and analysis.
  • Experience performing spacecraft EPS architecture trades, requirements derivation, and establishing baselines.
  • Experience developing power budgets, efficiency models, and load analyses.
  • Experience performing as a Responsible Engineer or technical lead role for an EPS.
  • Working knowledge of simulation and analysis tools (e.g., SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, or equivalent).
  • Must be US Citizen.
  • Need ability to obtain a security clearance.
Desired Skills
  • Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering with specialization in power electronics with 8+ years of experience.
  • Experience architecting end-to-end modular and scalable spacecraft EPS, including solar arrays, SADEs, SADs, batteries, and power control and distribution.
  • Advanced understanding of battery systems, including sizing, charging, discharging, and thermal management.
  • Experience developing and managing a Powered Equipment List (PEL).
  • Advanced understanding of solar array sizing, cell performance, and degradation analysis.
  • Understanding of performance and trade-offs of battery types, such as Li-ion and NiH2.
  • Understanding of radiation effects on power electronics and mitigation techniques.
  • Knowledge of spacecraft avionics and bus interfaces (LVDS, MIL-STD-1553, CAN, SpaceWire, Ethernet).
  • Experience following EPS components through qualification and acceptance testing.
  • Familiarity with high-reliability aerospace hardware design and derating guidelines (NASA, ECSS, MIL-STD).
  • Knowledge of standards and guidelines (NASA-STD-4009, ECSS-E-ST-20, MIL-STD-1547).
  • Strong hands-on experience with troubleshooting, fault isolation, and lab testing of EPS components.
  • Experience supporting formal design reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR, FRR) and customer technical interchange meetings.
  • Advanced understanding of power electronics design and functionality (DC/DC converters, regulators, fault protection circuits, switching systems).
  • Hands-on experience with test equipment (oscilloscopes, power analyzers, electronic loads, spectrum/network analyzers).
  • Experience with industry-standard electrical design tools, such as Altium Designer or Mentor Graphics Xpedition.
  • Excellent communication and ability to work across multi-disciplinary teams.

How We Determine What We Pay (Compensation Philosophy)
Redwire determines pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data, for our locations throughout the US. We will evaluate external equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index, in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company.
For new hires, we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth.  Salaries will be based on the applicant’s level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. Additionally, we consider the external market rate, the amount we have budgeted internally, and internal equity within the company for the same position. An employee/candidate with a stronger skill set will receive higher pay.
