These cutting-edge capabilities address cost and performance limitations that are helping to revolutionize spaceflight and are currently being utilized on missions with NASA, the Department of Defense, and several commercial space companies. 
 
Summary
We have a current opportunity for a full-time QA Manager located at our Aerospace manufacturing facility in Marlborough, MA.  In this role you will manage / lead a small Quality team of QA Engineers and QC inspectors.  This role is a hands-on working manager position, who will fulfill Quality Engineering job duties, as well as managerial duties. 
 
Responsibilities
  • As QA manager, you will be the QA representative for customer meetings such as Critical Design Reviews (CDR’s), Manufacturing Readiness Reviews (MRR’s), Test Readiness Reviews (TRR’s), and Pre-ship Reviews (PSR’s). 
  • As QA manager you will be responsible for the review of new customer proposals, and specific contract requirements, to ensure compliance.   This may include completion of a customer compliance matrix, as well as subsequent SDRL / CDRL documents.
  • Ownership of the quality management system. Continual improvement, evolution and maintenance of the quality management system to meet the needs of the company and products.
  • Work directly with parts engineering as site GIDEP representative to analyze GIDEPs and report any usage / impact to management and our customers.
  • This role includes managing an internal audit team as the AS9100 Management Representative and lead auditor.  You will also be the AS9100 representative for any customer, government, or AS9100 registrar audits of the Quality Management system and facility.
  • Work directly with manufacturing engineering to create and approve methods and procedures for fabricating, inspecting and testing of Aerospace products.  Ensure the documentation is detailed and meets Aerospace standards.
  • Collect, analyze and summarize data from quality inspections to determine root-cause of product problems, utilizing tools such as fishbone diagrams, 5 Whys, 8D’s, or other methods.  Improve product quality by working with the Operations / Manufacturing manager, manufacturing engineering, quality engineers and design/mechanical engineers to determine and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead Non-conformance and product failure investigations with relevant teams. Ensure the Non-Conformance reports and Failure Reports are clear and very detailed.   Both types of reports must drive down to the root cause before closing out.
  • Works directly with Project Management to communicate failures, non-conformances, deviations and waivers to the customer.  
  • Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place that comply with AS9100 and ISO9001.
  • Ensures that corrective actions meet AS9100 requirements and result in preventing similar defects in future builds.   
  • Work may include creation and/or support of Quality metrics gathering and reporting, Cause and Effect analysis, and Program customer interface.  
  • Work with purchasing to ensure quality requirements are flowed down. 
  • As the Facility Safety Officer, you will guide a small safety team in doing safety audits and facility audits.  You will be responsible for working directly with the Redwire Environmental, Health, and Safety team and management.  This includes the reporting of any safety incidents or near misses.

Ideal Experience
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Science or relevant field.
  • 10+ years of QA Management experience in an Aerospace / Military industry.
  • 5+ years’ experience in AS9100 and/or ISO9001 standards.  
  • Certified AS9100 auditor, preferably as a lead auditor.
  • Knowledge of standard Aerospace Industry requirements.
  • J-STD-001 Space Addendum knowledge and/or certification
  • NASA 8739.1 and/or NAS8739.3 knowledge and/or certification
  • Experience with EE and Mechanical Drawings and Schematics
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills: ability to clearly communicate technical issues.  Ability to communicate technical issues both verbally and written.  This includes detailed presentations and reports to the customer that are thorough and of high quality.  
  • Self-starter, who strives to continuously improve processes.  
  • In-depth understanding of technical documentation.
  • Be thorough and demonstrate great attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking, strong problem-solving skills, analytical skills and statistical analysis.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Working knowledge of ERP systems.

Pay Range
$126,000 - $165,000/year 

How We Determine What We Pay (Compensation Philosophy)
Redwire determines pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data, for our locations throughout the US. We will evaluate external equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index, in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company.
For new hires, we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth.  Salaries will be based on the applicant’s level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. Additionally, we consider the external market rate, the amount we have budgeted internally, and internal equity within the company for the same position. An employee/candidate with a stronger skill set will receive higher pay.
