Summary
 
Redwire Space Missions LLC, has a current opportunity for a remote “Staff Aerospace Engineer”. Candidate must be available to travel as needed to other Redwire and Customer locations. In this role you will work as part of the aerospace mission analyst group performing modeling and simulation, digital engineering, software development, testing, and data analysis for exquisite and cutting-edge missions.
 
 
Responsibilities
  • Leverage simulation to assess new design modalities in spaceflight
  • Demonstrate and evangelize for simulation-driven design
  • Validate simulation results and methodology with physical test
  • Responsible for building digital prototypes
  • Collaborate with systems engineering on requirements development and V&V
  • Rapidly assess systems or approaches in support of Business Development and proposal writing
  • Proactively interface with multi-disciplinary team members to optimize whole system designs that meet or exceed all technical, cost, and schedule requirements
  • Apply engineering principles to ensure that designed components and systems meet all requirements.
  • Generate technical documentation, reporting and presentations of design and analysis results.
  • Design, plan, and deliver within milestones leveraging industry-standard tools to deliver mission needs
Ideal Experience
  • Bachelors, Masters, or Ph.D degree in Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Minimum 7 years of engineering experience in the space industry
  • Experience with space systems engineering life cycle; including an understanding of space vehicle design, architecture development, space vehicle integration and test, and space operations development.
  • Experience with space mission analysis tools like Redwire ACORN, Ansys STK, NASA GMAT, or FreeFlyer
  • Experience interfacing directly with customer and leading technical discussions.
  • Ability to travel - an average of 10-20% travel may be required.
  • US citizenship is required with ability to acquire DOD Security Clearance.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Orbit Mechanics, Keplerian Physics, and Attitude Determination and Control.
  • Experience with Spacecraft Modeling & Simulation tools (ACORN, Ansys STK)
  • Experience with MBSE (Model-Based Systems Engineering)
  • Experience with Software Development (C/C++, Python)
  • Experience with flight software development and working with flight hardware
